Getting to Key West & the Florida Keys

Visiting Key West

Key West, Florida is located approximately 130 miles from Miami International Airport. The trip from Miami all the way to Key West can take 2 1/2 to 3 hours one way. There is only one road in and out of the Florida Keys and Key West is the last island with road access from the mainland.

Getting Here By Car:

The Florida Turnpike southbound ends in Florida City. The last exit will intersect US-1 and continue on in the direction of the Florida Keys via the 18-Mile Stretch. An alternate route, Card Sound Road, is accessible to vehicles but there is a $1.00 toll along the way. To get to the Spanish Gardens Motel follow US-1 all the way into Key West and turn right as you get onto the island. Follow North Roosevelt through several traffic lights, past Charter Boat Row and continue on Truman Avenue (N. Roosevelt turns into Truman Ave.) and take a left on Simonton Street. There is Duffy's Restaurant on the corner. Follow Simonton to the corner of Simonton and South, the last traffic light. The Spanish Gardens Motel will be your last left before the traffic light.

Getting Here By Plane:

Air service is available to and from Key West on a daily basis. Several flights a day are offered by some of the major airlines and arrive daily from Atlanta, GA, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando and Tampa. Ground service once in Key West is by taxi or rental car.
